It’s been a year since the launch of our pelargonium, ‘Treasured Memories’ and for those of you who don’t know the story behind this stunning variety and why it is so important to us, well here it is in a nutshell…
Treasured Memories came into being by pure accident when it was spotted, in flower on one of the stock benches about 4+ years ago. Since then this new sport has been tested to ensure stability and has proved to be a reliable grower.
When David (Our head grower) brought this new Angel variety to Emma’s (Our succulent Guru) attention for naming, we toyed back and forth with a few different options but finally settled on one and it was agreed it would be called Treasured Memories, as a fitting tribute to Emma’s father who had died suddenly in 2016 from Pancreatic Cancer.
As he was one of her main inspirations for getting into this industry, we felt what better
way to honour the man who ignited her passion for plants. We also realised that so many people have had an encounter with this disease in one way or another and the treatment and care these effected families receive is truly inspiring and so this beautiful plant represents all those who have shared a similar experience to Emma. So with that, for every plant sold we would donate 25% to the two charities in particular who were at her fathers aid through this tough time, Marie Curie Cancer Care and St Barnabas Hospice.
We are proud to say that over the past year we’ve raised just over £200 which will be split and shared between the two charities. A big thank you is extended to all those who contributed to this cause, whether in memory of loved ones or as extra support to Emma and her family, it is greatly appreciated.
Treasured Memories is available for the Spring and if you have not yet added it to your collection, we highly recommend doing so as it truly is a stunning flower and as mentioned before, a reliable grower. Early pinching will ensure a lovely bushy plant.
It is available as a single plug plant for £6-95 + P&P and can be bedded out but flowers best as pot plants, indoor or out. Remember they must be protected from frost at all times. We are already taking Spring orders however please note, orders will only be dispatched from March onwards. For any queries please contact us here or call our office on 01273 844 229.
